Часослов Дионоры Урбинской (Элеоноры Гонзага делла Ровере) {2181}
Hours of Dionora of Urbino (Eleonora Gonzaga della Rovere)
история:
Note from Cockerell in BL MSS department copy of catalogue saying that there are 7 MSS in the Vatican (Codices Urb. 10, 324, 336, 365, 392, 427, 548) by the same scribe, named Mattheus Herculani de Vulterris. Note pasted into this MS says there are further examples of his work in Florence.
Note at front of MS by Alfred Fairbank ('A.F.') says that the work is too fine to be by Giulio Clovio, and must therefore be by Raphael. See James' Catalogue for dismissal of attribution to Giulio Clovio.
NB Some of the miniatures are by a later, less skilled artist.
