On the facial side there is a chased Crucifixion with Golgotha and four bystandings.
Two flying angels are represented at the top of the cross.
On the handle there is an engraved donation inscription stating: "This cross was made in 7160 by the order of Alexis Mikhailovich, Tsar and Great Prince and Sovereign of All Russia, and his righteous Tsarine and Great Princess Maria Ilyinichna for the Cathedral of Assumption of Our Lady and the Saints righteous miracle-working Princes of Yaroslavl Vasily and Konstantin".
