The miniature (showing the annointing and crowning of David) was painted by a fifteenth century illuminator, who followed the border pattern (consisting of roundels linked by interlaced foliage) established by the fourteenth-century artists who began this volume. However, instead of filling the roundels with narrative scenes the artists has instead filled them with thistle-like flowers.
